The invention relates to a lichen extract and to the use of same for improving the recovery of microorganisms associated with lichens. In this way, the invention relates to a method for improving or optimising the isolation and/or culture of microorganisms associated with lichens, which comprises the processing of lichen thalli which are washed, or washed and chopped, in a culture medium comprising the lichen extract of a population of the species of lichen from which the microorganisms are to be isolated. The invention also relates to the method for obtaining the lichen extract and to the composition comprising the lichen extract thus obtained.
