The ultrafine fibers containing the encapsulated volatile organic compounds can be formed into a variety of formats for use to preserve perishable products. |

preparing a stabilized system of biopolymer, surfactant, and volatile organic compound (VOC); mixing an encapsulating polymer solution with said stabilized system to form a fiber forming solution; and producing ultrafine fibers from the fiber forming solution, wherein said VOC is encapsulated therein. |
