A bandwidth-adapted multimedia data processing method and a host device using the method are provided to transmit a compressed main image and a compressed reduced image together and reproduce the main image by using the reduced image when the compressed main image is not received to provide a ceaseless image and reduce a multimedia data processing time. A multimedia data processing method includes a step of resizing a main image by using a received video signal to generate a reduced image(S310), a step of compressing the main image and the reduced image(S320), and a step of transmitting compressed data including the compressed main image and the compressed reduced image(S330).
