<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera device capable of easily setting more appropriate photographic conditions, according to subject. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of parameters which specify the photographic conditions of a device according to a plurality of photographic modes and a model image 103, which is to serve as the sample of an object suitable for the photographic mode are stored. Upon setting the photographic mode, the model image 103 according to the object to be photographed is selected and the photographic conditions is set, based on the parameters coping with the model image 103. Even when there exists many kinds of photographic modes, disturbance will not be generated in the setting of the photographic mode, whereby anyone can set easily the optimum photographic condition with respect to the object.
