Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for handling a prohibit timer for a scheduling request (SR) in a wireless communication system. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method and an apparatus for handling a prohibit timer for an SR in a wireless communication system comprises: a step of triggering a buffer status report (BSR) by first uplink (UL) data which become available in user equipment (UE); a step of starting a timer associated with the BSR; and a step of stopping the timer if a specific event related to arrival of UL approval occurs.
