PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress increase in the concentration of a gas that is dissolved in an ink.SOLUTION: An ink retention device (10) is provided with an ink retention chamber (1) for internally retaining the ink, a reduced-pressure chamber (2) in which the pressure is reduced, and a gas permeable member (3) which allows permeation of a gas, while not allowing permeation of the ink. The gas permeable member (3) allows the gas dissolved in the ink to be transmitted to the reduced-pressure chamber (2) when the pressure of the reduced-pressure chamber (2) is reduced, and bends in response to the force applied from the ink according to movement of a carriage. |
