A wind energy installation has a rotor blade with angular adjustment, a mechanical braking device for reducing the speed of the rotor, a device to control operation and a safety system. Angular adjustment reduces the speed of the rotor at an average angular adjustment rate of less than 8.5 percent in the rotor blade after the occurrence of a trouble signal. An independent claim is also included for a wind energy installation with a rotor.
