The purpose of the present invention is to provide a feature for reducing the load on storage devices at a recovery site in an environment in which a primary site and the recovery site are configured to implement remote copy and the storage devices at the primary and recovery sites differ in performance and capacity. On the basis of storage performance information and storage free space information of the recovery site, the management method for a computer system according to the present invention creates, on storage devices at the recovery site, second volumes constituting remote copies of first volumes that are provided to a host by the primary site, said storage devices being capable of satisfying the performance requirements arising when a failure occurs in the first volumes. Further, the management method forms volume groups, each of which includes both a second volume created on a storage device at the recovery site and a first volume at the primary site, the first and second volumes being configured to implement remote copy. Further, the management method forms an extended volume group including a plurality of first volumes and a plurality of second volumes, wherein data is copied from the first volumes to the second volumes in the order in which the data is written to the first volumes. |
