PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording device capable of improving the detection precision of a residual ink amount in an ink cartridge. SOLUTION: An ink is replenished to an auxiliary tank 7 mounted on a carriage from an ink cartridge 9 through an ink supply tube 10. In case an output showing the full fill-out of the auxiliary tank 7 is not available from Hall elements 33a and 33b, despite the fact that a specified time is over from the point of time when the supply of the ink to the auxilliary tank 7 is initiated, it is judged that the ink content of an ink cartridge 9 is depleted. In this case, the arithmetic function of an ink consumption arithmetic means is corrected based on the counter value of an ink residue counter. This correction operation enables the detection precision of the residual ink amount in the tank cartridge 9 to be upgraded. |
