PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable selecting the maximum number of channels which may be normally viewed at this receiving area by preventing a channel capable of being selected in the past from being dealt with as an unselectable channel by newly performed automatic scanning in a TV broadcast receiver provided with an automatic scanning function. SOLUTION: When a channel decided as a selectable channel at the time of new automatic scanning processing does not exist in a channel information table 50 created in the past, the TV broadcast receiver turns on an ADD flag while considering its channel number as a selectable channel, and registers an effective reception direction. When the channel exists, the receiver updates (overwrites) effective reception direction information 53 to data acquired at the time of new automatic scanning processing. For the channel decided as an unselectable channel at the time of new automatic scanning processing, the channel is not deleted existing in the channel information table created in the past.
