An image forming device equipped with a security function and a method thereof are provided to enable a user to conveniently progress a printing approval procedure without inputting a password and prevent leakage of security information caused from ID/password leakage by performing the printing approval procedure for receiving a hierarchical approval from an approver according to a security level of a requested printing job. A printing approval procedure setting part(200) sets the printing approval procedure for receiving the hierarchical approval by reflecting the security level of the printing job. An approval communicator(210) transmits information of the requested printing job to an approval host set by the printing approval procedure and receives approval information returned from the approval host. A printing job controller(220) permits the printing job to be progressed if the received approval information satisfies a printing approval condition of the set printing approval procedure. A user notifier(270) provides the information for disapproving the requested printing job to a user in the case that the requested printing job is disapproved.
