A power steering system for a vehicle is provided to enable a user to more conveniently handle a steering wheel when parking or low-speed driving the vehicle, by increasing a degree of steering assistance. A power steering system for a vehicle comprises a steering column(12), a power steering motor(14), an electronic power steering control module(EPSCM) and a bending torque sensor(18). The steering column is connected with a steering wheel(10). The power steering motor assists a steering force in connection with wheels on both sides. The EPSCM controls the operation of the power steering motor, according to signals applied from a steering torque sensor(16) and a vehicle speed sensor mounted to the steering column. The bending torque sensor increases current of the power steering motor when a driver operates the steering wheel by pressing the steering wheel with one end, by applying the signals to the EPSCM.
