<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content distribution device for selecting an encipherment system, according to the contents of the content to be transmitted and received, while maintaining real-time performance. <P>SOLUTION: A communication pathway and an encipherment system are selected separately in each data contained in content data to be distributed. Security is emphasized more than real-time performance, in data such as MIDI data for accompanying high level of importance of data protection to distribute the data via ISDN and a closed-area IP communication network.
