<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved electrosurgical system and method relating to the field of electrosurgery, further in detail, for cutting and ablation of tissue using a high frequency voltage. <P>SOLUTION: The electrosurgical system includes: a shaft with a proximal end and a distal end; at least one active electrode on the distal end, the active electrode includes at least one active portion having a surface geometry configured so as to promote substantially high electric field intensities between the active portion and the target site when a high frequency voltage is applied to the electrodes; a connector (14) placed near the proximal end of the shaft to electrically connect the electrode to a high frequency voltage source (28); a return electrode placed near the active electrode and electrically connected to the connector; and a liquid path (15) connected with the return electrode and the target site.
