摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp in which a position of a maximum value of a luminance distribution in a discharge arc of a discharge lamp in which mercury is not sealed is made to coincide with that of a discharge lamp in which mercury is sealed to give an optical compatibility between the two lamps by an inexpensive method within a specification allowable range of the discharge electrode position. SOLUTION: The discharge lamp is provided with a body having a discharging chamber 4 in which mercury is not sealed and a base 5 supporting the body. A shape of an end surface of each of a pair of discharge electrodes 1 arranged in the discharging chamber 4, facing each other, is composed of a perpendicular end surface 2a almost perpendicular to an electrode axis Xe of the discharge electrode 1 and an inclined end surface 2b which inclines toward a side of a discharge electrode 1 against a surface perpendicular to an electrode axis Xe of the discharge electrode 1, and a perpendicular end surface axis Xv which passes a center of the perpendicular end surface 2a and is parallel with the electrode axis Xe of the discharge electrode 1 is positioned on an identical line with a standard axis Xc of the base 5.
