A method for processing traffic information comprises receiving a message frame including a sequence of one or several traffic information messages. At least one traffic information message has a location information structure having a sub-link identifier corresponding to a link, link location information corresponding to the link, and a road type information corresponding to a road type; and information corresponding to an average speed and a congestion type for the link. The method further comprises decoding the message frame.
