Shaft encoder

Rotary encoder has a signaling body in which an encoder shaft (14) is rotationally mounted. Within the hollow encoder shaft is a collet for clamping the encoder shaft to a shaft whose rotation is to be measured. The collet (18) has a hollow cylindrical shape with conical forward and rear ends (20, 22). The encoder shaft has an inner cone (16) on its front end that engages with the outer cone of the collet. The encoder shaft has a clamping housing (24) that can be axially displaced and has a cone (28) that engages with the rear cone of the collet and that can be acted on by an axial tensioning force.
