The booster (10) has a control valve housing (18) and a control valve arrangement (16) arranged between a force input unit (12) and a force output unit (14). The arrangement has a sealing hub (40) for optional connection of a vacuum chamber (26) with an operating chamber (24) and another sealing hub (44) for optional connection of the operating chamber with atmosphere. A valve opening (48) in the form of a radial borehole is formed in a valve bushing (42), where the opening is released during exceedance of a pre-determined actuating force for connecting the chamber (24) with the atmosphere.
