<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicon nitride-based sintered body which substantially avoids grain detachment and has excellent mechanical properties and wear resistance, and a member for molten metal and a wear resistant member using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The silicon nitride-based sintered body consists mainly of silicon nitride while containing zirconia and at least one of yttria, ceria, magnesia and calcia, and contains monoclinic zirconia in silicon nitride constituting main crystals. Since high compressive stress is applied to the main crystals, the silicon nitride-based sintered body substantially avoids grain detachment of silicon nitride grains and has excellent mechanical properties and wear resistance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
