PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electrolytic solution having more excellent safety which has been required in the prior art.SOLUTION: Electrolytic solution for a battery includes nonaqueous solvent and alkali metal salt, the alkali metal salt is dissolved in the nonaqueous solvent, and the nonaqueous solvent contains perfluoropolyether. The weight average molecular weight of the perfluoropolyether ranges from not less than 350 to less than 760. A battery includes the electrolytic solution for a battery, a positive electrode containing a positive electrode active material capable of occluding and discharging alkali metal cations, and a negative electrode containing a negative electrode active material capable of occluding and discharging alkali metal cations.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
