PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chip resistor, which can solve or suppress problems such as errors in resistance caused by sticking of solder to the resistor. SOLUTION: The chip resistor A1 is provided with a chip-shaped resistor 1, having a front and rear faces 10a and 10b separated by an interval in the thickness direction and a pair of sides 10c extending along a certain direction separated by the interval in the width direction, and a pair of electrodes 3, which are arranged parallel with each other on the rear side 10b of the resistor 1 in the certain direction separated by interval. A first insulation layer 2A, which covers all areas between the pair of electrodes 3 on the rear side 10b of the resistor 1 and provides a formation region of the pair of electrodes by being formed prior to the formation of the pair of electrodes, and a second insulation layer 2B, which entirely covers each of the pair of sides 10c of the resistor 1, are provided.
