<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a very narrow gripper allowing a <1/10 inch divided width. <P>SOLUTION: The gripper for tufting machines comprising a slider supported to be movable in the longitudinal direction is provided. The slider is preferably installed in a slider-receiving space 17 constituted as a slit part 16. The slit part extends from a narrow side part below the gripper main body to the gripper main body and is limited with two thin walls or solely one thin wall. A cutting blade insert-receiving space 39 is made above the slider-receiving space 17. The receiving space is extended from a planar side part and makes a concave part in the gripper main body. A strip part is installed between the cutting blade insert-receiving space and the slider-receiving space.
