<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a polarizer, with which a polarizer in a large size with high orientation can be manufactured without requiring a large rolled film or a drawing machine. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a polarizer includes a width-direction drawing step of stretching a hydrophilic polymer film 1 in a width direction and a dyeing step of dyeing the hydrophilic polymer film. In the width-direction drawing step, a thick film portion 11 is formed along the longitudinal direction of the hydrophilic polymer film 1 on both ends in the width direction, and a level difference portion 12 is formed along the longitudinal direction at the boundary between the thick film portion 11 and other region in the hydrophilic polymer film 1. Furthermore, in the next step of the width-direction drawing step, conveyance of the hydrophilic polymer film using a roll R1 is carried out, while the level difference portion 12, formed on either end in the width direction of the hydrophilic polymer film 1, is engaged with each shoulder portion in the axial direction of the roll R1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
