<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a good quality image even when decoding an image that has already been encoded to a part of the entire layers. <P>SOLUTION: A decoding method for decoding an encoded image data obtained by hierarchically encoding an image includes a decoding process (S204) for hierarchically decoding the encoded image data, a determination process (S205) for determining if the decoding process has decoded the complete hierarchy of the encoded image data or not, and a filtering process (S206) for performing filtering for suppressing alias element for the decoded image data after the decoding by the decoding process when the result of the determination process indicates that the complete hierarchy of the encoded image data has not been decoded. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
