<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a keyless entry system which can prevent a steering shaft or the like from being unlocked without the intention of a driver or passenger and which can increase customer convenience. <P>SOLUTION: The keyless entry system includes a portable machine carried by the driver or passenger and a vehicle control device which performs authentication processing based on the portable machine and which locks or unlocks the vehicle-mounted device to be locked based on the result of the authentication processing. The portable machine sends direction information to the vehicle control device according to directions from the driver or passenger, and the direction information provides directions for limiting the unlocking of the device to be locked.
