A semiconductor memory device is provided to perform a switching control between a read address and a record address by retaining an address of a record cycle until a next record cycle. A semiconductor memory device is synchronized to a reference clock signal, inputs an address, inputs/outputs data, and includes a first address retaining unit(101), a second address retaining unit(102), an address setting unit(104), and an address selection unit(105). The address setting unit records an address from the first address retaining unit to the second address retaining unit on record cycles. The address selection unit selects an address retained in the first address retaining unit and an address retained in the second address retaining unit.
