PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately count steps even when a walking situation changes and a sensing axis of a sensor deviates from an optimum angle. SOLUTION: A single-axis static acceleration sensor 107 outputs a static acceleration signal according to the direction of the sensing axis and outputs a walk signal corresponding to a dynamic acceleration signal indicating a walk. A CPU 101 controls an amplification factor of an amplification circuit 106 in response to a static acceleration signal from an A/D conversion circuit 105. The amplification circuit 106 amplifies to output the walk signal from the sensor 107 at the amplification factor set by the CPU 101.
