PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner having excellent hot offset resistance and low-temperature fixability and less adhesion of a toner component on a carrier even in long-term use, causing no degradation in chargeability of the carrier, and capable of giving high picture quality with excellent minute dot reproducibility. SOLUTION: The mother particles of the toner are obtained by preparing a dispersion liquid having at least a polyester prepolymer having a functional group containing a nitrogen atom, polyester, a colorant, paraffin wax and inorganic filler in an organic solvent, and dispersing the dispersion liquid in an aqueous medium to subject the prepolymer to a crosslinking reaction and/or an extension reaction. The toner is characterized in that: the melting point of the wax is from 60°C to 90°C; in a DSC measurement of the toner obtained by adding an external additive to the mother particles, the endothermic quantity derived from the wax at an endothermic peak is from 3.5 J/g to 5.5 J/g; the toner has an aspect ratio of from 0.80 to 0.90; and the absolute charge amount of the mother particles is larger than that of the toner.
