PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable power source capacity reduction and high quality image recording at the same time by realizing automatic uniform distribution of simultaneously driven recording elements even when time division drive timing is changed to correct inclination of the recording head.SOLUTION: When the time corresponding to the recording resolution of a recording head is divided into a plurality of time segments and a plurality of recording elements is driven on a time division basis with the divided time segments as drive timings, the plurality of recording elements is formed into a plurality of groups comprising a predetermined number of adjacent recording elements. In addition, when the drive timing is changed in units of the divided time segments for each of the plurality of groups, the following relation is set such that the number of simultaneously driven recording elements is uniform in the time division drive block as a result of the change. That is, the relation is set among the number of groups (G) including the number of recording elements forming one period of drive, the number of drive timings (N) in one period of time division drive, and the unit of change (S) of drive timing when the change is performed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 28 |
