Disclosed in embodiments of the present application are a data copy method and device. The method comprises: acquiring, by a destination server, a data block identifier, version information and hole information; transmitting, by the destination server, the data block identifier, the version information and the hole information to a source terminal server so as to enable the source terminal server to find corresponding data according to the data block identifier, the version information and the hole information; receiving, by the destination server, a response message carrying the data transmitted by the source terminal server and according to the response message copying the data to the data block identifier, the version information and the hole corresponding to the hole information, thereby copying data only to the hole in a random read/write manner, and eliminating the need to copy an entire amount of data, thereby reducing a data amount to be copied and copy time, improving data copy efficiency.
