PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound presenting good hue when reacted with a diazo compound, and useful as a coupler for recording materials, by reacting a specific aminopyrrole derivative with a thioisocyanate compound in an organic solvent followed by cyclization and then alkylation or the like. SOLUTION: This compound of formula IV (e.g. a compound of formula V) is obtained through the following steps: reacting a 2-aminopyrrole derivative of formula I (R1 and R2 are each H, an aryl, an alkyl or the like) (e.g. a 2- amino-3-ethoxycarbonyl-4-phenylpyrrole or the like) with a thioisocyanate compound such as ethoxycarbonyl thioisocyanate in an organic solvent such as acetonitrile to form an adduct of formula II (R is an alkyl or aryl), cyclizing the thus produced adduct through heating in a solvent in the presence of a catalyst such as 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene to form a 5- mercaptopyrrolotriazinone compound of formula III, and then alkylating or arylating the thus produced compound. |
