PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound useful as a synthetic intermediate for compounds usable as an asymmetric synthetic catalyst usable under higher practical reactional conditions and capable of providing a high optical purity. SOLUTION: This compound is represented by formula I to IV (R1 to R8 are each H, a 1-20C alkyl, a 1-20C alkenyl or the like, with the proviso that R1 to R4 are not simultaneously H), e.g. (R)-(-)-6,6'-di-n-octyl-1,1'-binaphthyl-2,2'- diyl phosphate. The compound represented by formula I to IV, e.g. the compound represented by formula I or II is obtained by protecting the diol of (R)- or (S)-1,1'-binaphthyl-2,2'-diol as a raw material, providing halides at the 3,3'- and/or the 6,6'-positions, then introducing substituent groups by a cross-coupling reaction, etc., and subsequently reacting the resultant compound with phosphorus oxychloride, etc. |
