The method involves providing a maximum wheel speed by an interface (IF1). A delay is determined from the maximum wheel speed that is selected from wheel speeds of respective wheels using an evaluation circuit. A vehicle speed is determined and adjusted depending on a comparison of the delay with a threshold by the evaluation circuit, where the circuit produces a control signal depending on the vehicle speed. A person protection system (PS) is controlled by a control circuit (FLIC) depending on the control signal. |
