FAR FIELD-INSENSITIVE INTRACARDIAC CATHETER ELECTRODES

Cardiac catheterization is carried out using a catheter having an electrode assembly disposed on the distal portion of the catheter. The electrode assembly includes a sensing electrode connected to a remote receiver, and at least one grounded guard electrode spaced apart from the sensing electrode by a gap. The sensing electrode is bracketed on at least two sides by the at least one grounded guard electrode. Signals are received from the sensing electrode in the receiver.
