<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit gas evolution during high-temperature storage without impairing battery performance. <P>SOLUTION: The positive electrode-protecting agent for a lithium secondary battery contains a polymer obtained by the copolymerization of a polymerizable compound represented by the formula (1), and a polymerizable compound represented by the formula (2). In the formula (1), Z<SB POS="POST">1</SB>represents a polymerizable functional group, and X represents a C1-C20 hydrocarbon or oxyalkylene group, and may exist or may not exist. If X does not exist, Z is directly bound to A. A represents an aromatic functional group.
