PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce damage to the elastic layer of the pressing-heating rotor of a nip part in a fixation unit having such a structure that the longitudinal end of a nip part formation member is outward of the end of the elastic layer of a heating rotor.SOLUTION: Provided is a fixation device comprising a heating rotor having an elastic layer and a pressure unit having a belt and a nip part formation member coming in contact with the inner face of the belt and forming the heating rotor and the nip part, wherein the nip part formation member has a base, an elastic pad formed on the base, and a projection formed downstream in a recording material conveyance direction from the elastic pad of the base and whose hardness is higher than that of the elastic pad, a face of the elastic pad facing the heating rotor protruding in a direction in which a first area of the elastic pad facing the end of the heating rotor draws nearer to the heating rotor than does a second area facing the middle part of the heating rotor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
