An aerosol-generating system (10) comprising: a power supply (14), a controller (15) connected to the power supply, and an aerosol-generating element (18) connected to the controller,a first sensor (20) connected to the controller and configured to provide a first signal to the controller in response to a first user input action, wherein the controller (15) is responsive to the first signal to switch from an off state to a ready state, wherein in the ready state the controller prevents at least one function of the aerosol-generating system (10) but is responsive to a second user input action to provide a second signal to the controller (15), wherein the controller (15) is configured to compare a second signal with stored data and to switch from the ready state to an on state if the second signal matches the stored data, and wherein, in the on state, the controller (15) is responsive to a third user input action to switch to an active state in which the controller (15) activates the at least one function of the aerosol-generating system (10). |
