An outdoor unit according to one embodiment comprises: an outdoor heat exchanger; a cabinet that houses the outdoor heat exchanger; a communication module that performs contactless communication with a nearby information terminal; and an external case that is formed from a first resin material having excellent weather resistance, accommodates the communication module, and is exposed to the exterior of the cabinet. Furthermore, the communication module comprises a substrate on which a circuit to communicate with the information terminal is formed, and a covering material covering the substrate and formed from a second resin material that is different from the first resin material, adheres favorable to the substrate, and has poor water absorbency.
