<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball for a ballpoint pen capable of obtaining sufficient corrosion prevention effect and capable preventing segregation of binder metal. <P>SOLUTION: Metal carbide powder and/or metal oxide powder at least on whose surface a metal film is formed are sintered to obtain a ball for a ballpoint pen.
