PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To interrupt current supply from a battery upon the detection of a short circuit at the input side of a power supply circuit by monitoring consumed power of devices including mobile telephones in a unified manner. SOLUTION: This power supply circuit is used in a communication terminal device having a battery as a power supply source. The power supply circuit is connected to a current monitoring means, which generates a monitoring voltage corresponding to a consumed current of a terminal device. The power supply circuit comprises a current-voltage converter, which receives the monitoring voltage and converts it to a current value, and a comparator, which compares the current value with a threshold value. When the current value exceeds the threshold value, an output of the comparator controls the current monitoring means to interrupt the consumed current of the terminal device. Alternatively, the current monitoring means may be structured in the power supply circuit. As this current monitoring means, a transistor, for example, is suitable. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
