PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover ethylene carbonate of good quality recyclable as a detergent from a used detergent containing ethylene carbonate as a main component, being a disposal object as industrial refuse, without increasing a discharge amount as the industrial refuse. SOLUTION: Water of an amount of being 5-25 wt.% in relation to ethylene carbonate is added to the used detergent containing ethylene carbonate as the main component, the detergent is agitated at a temperature equal to or higher than the melting point of ethylene carbonate, the detergent is cooled to precipitate ethylene carbonate, to separate and remove a liquid phase. The recovered ethylene carbonate is repeatedly subjected to the same process if necessary, to heighten purity. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
