PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform small vibration spin-drying by estimating a vibration level when normal spin-drying is performed from a feature of vibration of a water tank in a resonance area. SOLUTION: A drum type washing machine includes: a drum 11; a water tank 13 for incorporating the drum and reserving washing water; a motor 12 for rotating and driving the drum; a case body 10 for containing the water tank; a vibration detector 17 for detecting vibration in a plurality of directions provided for the water tank 13; and imbalance detection means 20 for detecting an amount of imbalance of the laundry in accordance with an output of the vibration detector 17. In accordance with a difference in the number of resonance spin-drying rotations where an output peak on each axis appears that are obtained by the imbalance detection means 20 from the vibration detector 17, a threshold used for determining the imbalance detection is switched to reduce the vibration when performing normal spin-drying.
