The present invention relates to an accounting file management system for managing an accounting file of an entity, and to a method associated thereto. The system integrates and interlinks data from financial statements with reports, statements and letters in order to simplify the daily operations of an accountant or accounting firm. According to embodiments of the present invention, the system is based on the known CaseView.TM. tool, which in turn uses Microsoft Word.TM. and Microsoft Excel.TM. applications and which may be used in a Design Mode to define the contents and layout of documents. More particularly, the system according to embodiments of the present invention concerns an improvement over the CaseView.TM. tool, wherein financial statements are prepared in the form of Word documents which are produced dynamically, based on financial data and other information provided in the system.
