AUTOMATED SPLIT OF WORK IN A CLOUD ENVIRONMENT

Techniques disclose managing cloud computing resources provisioned to processing elements of a distributed application (e.g., for a streams processing environment). A cloud manager determines changes in availability of cloud resources. The cloud manager notifies a runtime manager of a distributed of the change in availability. The runtime manager in turn requests that the cloud manager adjust the provisions based on the notification. The cloud manager provisions the cloud resources based on the request.
