HAIR AND BODY SHAMPOO HAVING EXCELLENT FOAM STABILITY WITH TIME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair and body shampoo having excellent foam stability with time by including hydroxypropyl guar gum. SOLUTION: The objective shampoo contains 0.05-2.0 wt.% of a hydroxypropyl guar gum having a repeating structure of the formula [R is (C3H6O)n.H] and a substitution degree of the hydroxypropoxy group of 0.1-2.0 and produced from guar gum [a water-soluble natural polysaccharide composed of a refined powder of the albumen of the seed of guar gum [guar plant (Cysmopisis tetragonalobus L.)] as a raw material and reacting the material with sodium hydroxide and propylene oxide. The hydroxypropyl guar gum has excellent compatibility with other water-soluble polymers and can be used in combination with a water-soluble polymer known as a foam stabilizer (e.g. hydroxyethyl cellulose). The aqueous solution of the above guar gum exhibits excellent pseudoplastic fluidity and has excellent emulsion and dispersion stability with time in spite of low apparent viscosity.
