PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for producing a cylindrical lens, capable of changing lens diameters, economically regardless of the size of lens diameter. SOLUTION: This apparatus 20 for producing a cylindrical lens has a crucible 22 for melting a lens material and holding a molten lens material and an electric heater 24 close to the crucible 22 and heats the crucible 22. The apparatus is equipped with a melting furnace 26 made of a refractory material and a pair of pulling rollers 28 for pulling up molten glass from the crucible 22 and forming a cylindrical lens body having a fixed diameter. The pulling rollers 28 are rotary rollers made of a rubber driven by an electric motor (not shown in the figure) and rotated as shown in the figure. Further preferably, the apparatus is provided with a lifting and lowering device and a control device for the lifting and lowering device.
