PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder equipped with a handling pressure adjusting mechanism compact and capable of being externally operated. SOLUTION: A handling table 2 is brought into contact with a driven paper feeding roller 1. A lever 10 is rotatably provided for a supporting plate 8 around its fulcrum screw 9. The handling table 2 is provided for the lever 10 so as to be revolved around a pin 11. A rocking operation plate 20 is provided for the supporting plate around the fulcrum screw 9. A pressing bar 13 is inserted through both the supporting plate 8 and a mounting plate 12. A spring 19 is provided for the pressing bar in between the flange 14 of the pressing bar and the rocking operation plate 20. The pin 33 of an adjusting shaft 31 is brought into contact with the rocking operation plate. An adjusting knob 41 is provided for the end part of the adjusting shaft outside its chassis. The inclination of the rocking operation plate with the adjusting knob rotated, thereby allows the spring to be much deflected, and also allows the pressing bar to be energized upward so that the handling table is more firmly brought into contact with the feeding roller. Handling pressure can be easily adjusted by means of the knob 41 from outside.
