PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a carbonized film having fine open cells by carbonizing a porous film made from a highly heat-resistant resin in an anaerobic atmosphere. SOLUTION: This porous carbonized film having open cells with 0.1-10μm average cell diameter is obtained by heating a porous film made from a highly heat-resistant resin of a polyimide in an anaerobic atmosphere to 800-1,800 deg.C. The porous film of the highly heat-resistant resin is obtained by casting a polyimide precursor solution obtained by dissolving 0.3-60 wt.% polyimide precursor in an organic solvent, and having 10-10,000 poise viscosity, on a film to provide a cast material, arranging a material for regulating the rate for replacing a solvent, at least on one surface thereof to provide a laminated film, bringing the obtained laminated film into contact with a solvent to solidify the polyimide precursor and to provide a porous film of the polyimide precursor, and subjecting the resultant porous film to thermal imidation treatment or chemical imidation treatment. The thickness of the film of the material for regulating the rate for replacing the solvent is preferably 5-500μm and the air permeability thereof is preferably 50-1,000 sec/10 cc.
