PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the impact force of a hammer on an anvil appreciably without causing the problem where an increased rotating speed of the hammer, which is possible by a gently set inclination angle of a V groove formed in a spindle, is prone to a vibration in the direction of machine length, in a rotary impact tool such as an impact driver for screwing with impact force by an impact of the hammer on the anvil. SOLUTION: The spindle 7 is supported rotatably in relation to a carrier 4c of a planetary gear mechanism 4 for motor output reduction, and a torsion spring 9 is interposed between both of them 4c and 7. The energizing force of the torsion spring 9 is added as impact force of the hammer 11.
