PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that concentricity between a through-hole and the outer periphery of a large diameter cylindrical section and concentricity between the through-hole and the outer periphery of a small diameter cylindrical section do not become 1μm or less, and positional deviation between the ferrules of large and small connectors to be connected and a ferrule for a diameter change is caused to increase connection loss. SOLUTION: The optical connection adapter for diameter change is constituted of: the ferrule 2 for the diameter change which has a through-hole in an axis direction, has a small diameter cylindrical section 2a on one end and has a large diameter cylindrical section 2b on the other end; an optical fiber 3 held in the through-hole; a first split sleeve 4 which has a flange section 4a on one end and holds the small diameter cylindrical section 2a of a ferrule 1 for the diameter change at the flange section 4a side; a second split sleeve 6 which has a flange section 6a on one end and holds the large diameter cylindrical section 2b of the ferrule 2 at the flange section 6a side; a first fitting sleeve 5 which holds the outer periphery of the other side of the first split sleeve 4 and is used to insert and hold an optical connector plug from an open end; and a second fitting sleeve 7 which holds the outer periphery of the other end side of the second split sleeve 6 and is used to insert and hold the optical connector plug from the open end.
